Artist’s Residencies and Charitable Projects
2007-95
Artist in Residence The Chelsea Children’s Hospital School, London. Responsible for creative visual art workshops for paediatrics at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, St.Mary’s and Collingham Gardens Child and Family Psychiatric Unit. Responsible for creative visual art workshops at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and Collingham Gardens Child and Family Unit. Project Titles 'Life Celebration I-IV' and 'Create whilst Healing' are issue-based, dealing with topics like racism, bullying, environmental conservation, nature and art, artists, personal identity and body image through the creative arts. All Key Stages are taught within a flexible Special Needs framework. A cumulative exhibition featuring the work from this programme has been on tour in Great Britain since 1998 and has also travelled to Barcelona. It has been exhibited in venues such as The National Gallery and the Royal College of Pathologists, London; as well as the Banbury Museum and the H.O.P.E. conference, Barcelona. Numerous articles have been written about this touring exhibition, in addition to the production of a book and other publications, raising the profile of hospital schools and the art of young people.
